Expressions of Interest (EOI) are being sought for suitably qualified and experienced nominees for appointment to the Dental Council of NSW.
The primary responsibility of the Council, in conjunction with the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC), is to protect the public by managing complaints and notifications about the health, performance and conduct of registered dental practitioners practising in NSW. The Council provides an important public safety role and aims to promote good practice in the dental profession.
The Practitioner member is expected to actively contribute to the effective governance and oversight of the Council and its role in regulating registered dental practitioners in NSW and to reflect the interests of the community in doing so. The ability to identify and articulate community expectations of dental practitioners is critical to the effective functioning of the Council.
The President must be a practitioner member of Council and is responsible for leading the Council and ensuring that the members work together as a cohesive team.
EOIs for the Deputy President are also invited in the event that a vacancy arises through this EOI process. The Deputy President also provides leadership to the Council and may represent the Council from time to time if the President is not available. The Deputy President may be a practitioner or non-practitioner member of Council.
We anticipate the term for each position to commence from 1 May 2023.
Applicants will be selected on merit and provide an appropriate range of knowledge, skills and diversity within the Council membership.
